As with all community and voluntary controlled schools in North Yorkshire, the Local Authority manages the admissions process. This includes all admissions to the school, whether you wish your child to start school in September or whether you have moved into the area during the academic year.
The school is always happy to give guided tours to any parent/carer who is interested in applying for a place. Please contact the school to make an appointment.
To apply for a place at Osmotherley Community Primary School, complete the online form on North Yorkshire Council’s own website.
Click the link and choose “School Admissions”.
If you would like a paper copy of the form, please contact the School Admissions Team on 01609 533679.
If you have any questions, please contact our school office on 01609 883329
There is also a lot of information on the NYCC website about choosing a school for your child including reminders of key dates and application tips. Â Â
Places in school are offered as follows:
- In September for children who reach their fifth birthday between 1st September and 31st August
By law children must receive full-time education from the beginning of the school term following their fifth birthday. Our policy is to offer a school place earlier as a ‘rising five’, since September 2012, there has been single point of entry to reception class in September. Parents can ask to defer entry, but not beyond the beginning of the term after their child becomes 5, or beyond the reception year.
The number of places available at the school is published annually and the school can not exceed that number, which is allocated with regards to available accommodation in the school. There are 10 main school places in each year group.
North Yorkshire Council has an admission appeal procedure – you can read about the appeals procedure here.

Please feel free to contact the school office if you require any additional information.
